Dampness may be due to many factors including rising dampness, rainwater penetration and condensation amongst others. Whatever the problem dampness is unhealthy and is likely to cause damage to decorations and plaster work as well as decay to timbers. BWT's trained surveyors will accurately identify the causes of dampness and give appropriate advice on remedial works. If rising dampness is diagnosed BWT's skilled technicians will provide a new damp proof course with the minimum of inconvenience. If damaged by ground water salts internal plaster works may require renewal and BWT provides a full fully skilled and professional replastering service.
Below ground areas such as basements, cellars and vaults may be subject to dampness and even free water penetration resulting in damage and rendering these areas unusable. BWT provide a range of cementitious and membrane waterproofing systems designed to meet the needs of each individual circumstance and transform areas into habitable accommodation or storage increasing the value of the property.
Cavity Wall-ties
The external walls of most brick built property in britain this century consist of twl leaves of brickwork bound together by metal wall-ties. Many designs of tiers have been used but few have stood the test of time due to rust, exacerbated by certain forms of mortar used to bind the bricks. Results of failure vary from cracked brickwork to collapsed walls. Treatment normally requires the corroded ties to be identified and treated together with the installation of new stainless steel ties installed to british standards by trained BWT wall-tie technicians.
